!!PLEASE DISPERSE WIDELY!!
Here is the schedule:

2:40-3:00 Open Mike
3:00-3:?? Enter the Broadway Performance Hall and gather in the Conference Room where the Board of Trustees meeting is located
"...Chancellor Wakefield recently sent out an email to faculty stating that due to unexpectedly high enrollment a total of $700,000 dollars will be dispersed to Central, North, and South Seattle Community Colleges. Each college will receive roughly one-third of the total based on how many full time students are enrolled at each college. For Central, this would cover the cut to instruction [quote copied from below]."
Fellow students and faculty,
Yesterday Campus President Mildred Ollée held a one hour long "forum" regarding budget cuts. Over 70 people packed the room and many had to stand due to lack of seating. Ollée spent the first 40 minutes on her presentation. She only gave us an hour yet she spent 40 minutes of that hour going on and on about how she has no power to reverse the decision to cut instruction by $200,000 for the Spring quarter of 2009. As the saying goes, the buck stops here. Her decision to cut 40 classes results in leaving 100's of students without the classes they need to graduate is absolutely unacceptable!
During the "forum" Ollée said that all classes that were cut have been replaced with either online, video, or correspondence classes. I'm not going to call Ollée a liar, but this simply isn't true. If you take a look at the online Spring 2009 schedule, there you will not find a single 200 level Spanish course. They were all completely cut. The students were left completely high and dry!
When Ollée finally gave us a chance to speak, a student brought up Ollée's mistake. I then commented on administrations ballooning salaries stating that based on the reported 2007 payroll, a 10% cut to full time administrators would easily pay for the $200,000 cut to instruction. Ollée interrupted me many times telling me that a forum is no place for comments and she expects students to raise questions instead. When I tried to ask her why they have decided to cut instruction when their own budget report released last December shows that the school has over $14,000,000 in net assets, she interrupted me declaring "don't go there!" and called me "disrespectful". The students and faculty have done everything within our power to be respectful and administration hasn't reciprocated.
Whats disrespectful is cutting our classes that are required for our transfer! Whats disrespectful is making these decisions behind closed doors without inviting students and faculty to ensure that our academic future would not be threatened!
Chancellor Wakefield, who was recently hired and has an annual salary that exceeds $100,000, recently sent out an email to faculty stating that due to unexpectedly high enrollment $700,000 dollars will be dispersed to Central, North, and South Seattle Community Colleges as an "educational stimulus". Each college will receive roughly one-third of the total. The final decision as to how much each college will receive is based on how many full time students are enrolled at each college. For Central, this would cover the cut to instruction.
Seattle Central does not need to cut its instructional budget! The chancellor sent this out yesterday, March 9, at about 5:30 pm. Restore our classes now!
I have received word that dozens of students will be joining us from the South campus and many from the North campus as well. The coalition calls for dozens more from North and South! The coalition calls for 75+ from Central! The coalition calls for 100+ to join our rally, speak up at the open mike, and enter the Board of Trustees meeting to restore our classes now!
Sincerely,

Need Volume?
Many of my clients want to get up in the morning, shampoo their hair, put a styling product in their hair, leave their dwellings, let their hair dry and look fuller. Sorry but this is just not realistic.
We stylists don't just play around with hair products like we played with glue and paint when we were kids. What we do involves art, technique, and science.
Health
Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition, is key. Consult a registered dietician or nutritionist.
Styling
Styling products will temporarily give you volume by coating, or filling, your hair strands, giving it structure. Layers and texture allow your hairs to work together better with products, as well as giving your hair more stiffness and more lift. Don't blow your hair out smooth! Your hair needs all the help it can get. Simply apply a small dab of a volumizing product recommended to you by your stylist into your hand. Emulsify it with both hands, rub it onto your scalp first, for lift at the scalp, then finger comb it through your ends for added strength to your strands. Blow dry your hair messy, from the roots out, making sure your roots are dry. This should take no longer than 5 minutes. Finish with a cool dryer setting to lock in your style. Use a hair spray that is formulated for your hair to set your style.
Hair Don't's
Don't restrain your strands with a rubber band or ponytail holder; it loses what little elasticity it has when your hair can't bounce back and forth. Please keep your hands out of your hair! Heat and oils will flatten your hair down!

Martha Manning, co-owner of the Wildrose, was seriously hurt in a horrible freak accident last week. While finishing filing up her car with gas at the 76 station at Broadway and Roy, another car came zooming into the station and hit a gas pump. The gas pump burst into flames and the flames and the hot metal were coming right at her. She somehow saw a bit of daylight out of the corner of her eye and dove towards it, saving her life, and somehow her dog, but leaving her with second and third degree burns on her lower legs and some of her feet.
She is still in the burn unit at Harborview and yesterday she had skin grafts which was great. Anyone who has had burns of this nature knows how incredibly painful it is and of course walking or standing behind a bar is going to take some time. I believe that she has some insurance but will be losing, and has laready lost, a lot of work income.
If you would like to help there is a fundraiser for Martha:
Wednesday October 1st at Chop Suey
Across from Piecora's Pizza at 14th and Madison
Doors Open at 8pm
There will be an auction, bands and djs. So please come out and support Martha!!!

Please help me!
Thanks,

Our new salon owner is remodeling the entire salon this week, which will be done by Saturday night. It is weird not being able to go to work till Sunday- when I get to make up for lost time and cash- but I am happy the place will have a totally new look!
I will be working this upcoming Sunday and Monday so...if you want your hair did on those days...get ahold of me ASAP!
I will be working this upcoming Sunday and Monday so...if you want your hair did on those days...get ahold of me ASAP!
Our new owner at the salon, Alex, will be painting the salon July 23rd and 24th. Our floor downstairs will be done on July 30th and 31st. The salon will be closed on those days.
The salon was purchased yesterday; the signing will occur today. We have a new owner of the salon that I work at. His name is Alex Garcia. We met at the Cyndi Lauper concert where I chatted him and his partner up because they looked so cute together. IT turns out he is a marketing guy and , though he has never owned a salon, is excited to work with us to get the salon rocking!
A bit of remodeling will occur soon- the floor will be fixed first because it really needs it. Rusty and I will continue to work there until Alex gets tired of us (hopefully never in my case!), as his employees. This means that I can stay where I am at and will have less business expenses, as I will be an employee. I will keep my business licenses up to date and my website but will not have to worry about having my own insurance anymore nor coming up with a set amount of rent for my workspace every month.
Yay for youthful excited investors! We are all trying to come up with a new name for the salon...feel free to suggest a name for our salon and I will pass it along to the powers-that-be!

It has been brought to my attention that I haven't even looked at LJ for awhile. Yes this is true. I have no idea what anyone here is doing. I have been consumed with homework, a really financially devastating month (January) at work, and ah...an attempt (?) at a relationship which still has not been defined and frankly...I am tired of it all. There has been stuff happening but I haven't the words, nor time to properly explain it all.
I will post more later.

As some of you know and many do NOT know, I used to be a make-up artist, but am no longer. (Supplies spoil when they don't get used often enough and I am not into revisiting that particular skill set of min for awhile.)
So, I have this client who wants to learn how to do make-up on herself. Does ANYONE know of anyone who does this specific thing? My client is transgendered to some degree and is looking for someone that won't make her look bad. Thanks in advance to any leads!
